They say that size doesn’t matter, but at Pink Bins we know, when it comes to skip bag sizes, that old saying isn’t true.

If you haven’t heard of skip bags before, the premise is simple; it’s like a reusable shopping bag and a skip bin had a baby, and that baby is the perfect versatile waste removal option for both commercial and residential projects!

If you’ve heard of our Pink Bags, or you’re looking into getting a skip bag for your home or work, you might be wondering, just how big are they? It’s a valid question, and it’s one we’d be happy to answer – we’ve got nothing to be ashamed of after all.

Skip Bag Size Guide: How Big is a Skip Bag?

If you are in the greater Auckland region, and you’ve got waste you’d like to kiss goodbye to, but not enough space for a skip bin, then skip bags are the perfect solution for you! Skip bags are also great if you like flexibility – they’re great if you have an awkwardly shaped spot where a steel skip bin won’t fit, or if you’d like a flexible timeframe to load up your waste.

Skip bags take the effort out of waste removal, simply order your bag, and we’ll send it to you ASAP. You should receive your bag within two business days, and then it’s up to you when you’d like to fill it and have it collected – easy peasy!

We like to say that our skip bags pack a big punch in time and space, but just how big a punch? The short answer is that you can choose between 1m3 and 3m3, it all comes down to how much waste you have to remove, and what will fit best at your home or work, how bloody good, right?

1m3

Our 1m3 (1m x 1m x 1m) skip bag is the perfect size if you’re doing a clean out around your home or office or you’ve had a busy weekend in the garden.

You can fill the 1m3 skip bag size up to 500kg.

3m3

Our 3m3 (2 m x 1.5 m x 1m) skip bag is the perfect size if you’ve done a big clean up or working bee, or you’re planning to move house or downsize.

You can fill the 3m3 skip bag size up to 800kg.

What can I put in my skip bag?

We’re so glad you asked! We’ve written a comprehensive guide on a previous blog, but here are the highlights, skip bags are perfect for:

  • Construction waste
  • Demolition waste
  • Household appliances
  • Household waste
  • Commercial waste
  • And, of course, garden waste!

So while it might not be the best season to be out in the garden, the weeds don’t seem to care about that! Order your skip bag, chuck on your gummies, grab your trusty Swanndri and you’ll be right as rain.

Fill up your bag, give us a shout, and we’ll take care of the rest. You’ll be knackered after all that hard yakka, so why not head down to the dairy and treat yourself to a nice, hot pie – ka pai, that’s a job well done!

What can’t I put in my skip bag?

This is just as important as what you can put in your skip bag! We want to keep you, the public, and our team safe, so for that reason, we can’t accept the following in your skip bag:

  • Hazardous waste
  • Chemicals
  • Asbestos*
  • Medical waste
  • Gas bottles
  • Car, or lithium batteries
  • Food waste
  • Paint
  • Tyres
  • Fluorescent tubes

*If you do have hazardous waste such as asbestos, you might be interested in our Hazibags. Hazibags are basically the same concept as our skip bags, but designed specifically with hazardous materials in mind, so it’s the safe option for removing potentially dangerous materials.

In order for our awesome drivers to pick up your skip bag once you’re done with it, it needs to be filled no higher than the top of the bag and be placed somewhere with easy access. Regardless of which skip bag size you have, filling it no further than the top means that our trucks can pick your skip bag up without any accidents.

If you have more rubbish to remove than you originally anticipated, we can send you out another bag, or a skip bin, whichever you prefer – it’s no trouble at all, just let us know!
