Chances are, if you’re doing a big cleanup, it’s because you’d like to make more space. But, if you’re cleaning up because you’re short on space, how can you make room for a skip bin to get rid of the things that are taking up the space to begin with?!
This one goes out to all our fellow Aucklanders with waste to get rid of, and no space for a skip bin, the Aucklanders who want to take their time, who don’t want the pressure of a set skip bin pick-up date! Whether you’re a business owner, a DIYer, or you aspire to live like Marie Kondo, we see you, and we have a solution!
FlexiBags, or as we like to call them, Pink Bags, are durable skip bags that can hold a whole bunch of different kinds of waste and debris. You’ve probably seen them popping up around the city in recent years, because they’re a great option to dispose of large quantities of waste if you’d like more flexibility (pun intended) than a traditional skip bin provides. Whether your property doesn’t have enough space for a skip, or you’d just like to work on your own schedule, FlexiBags are here to save the day!
What Can You Put Into A FlexiBag?
Sure, maybe size doesn’t matter to some people, but we know that size matters to you. Our FlexiBags come in two different sizes; we’ve got 1m3 bags, and 3m3 bags, so you can take your pick depending on how much waste you’d like to kick to the kerb!
When you purchase a FlexiBag, the price includes the bag, freight, collection and disposal. We send you the bag via courier, it generally takes two business days to get to you, you keep the bag/s as long as you like (Yes, really! Take as much time as you need!) and, once you’re ready to kiss your waste goodbye, let us know, and we’ll collect it within seven days.
So that everything goes smoothly when we come to collect your Pink Bag, here’s a guide to what to do, and what not to do when it comes to loading up your FlexiBag.
Yes, please!
It may be only a superficial thing, but FlexiBags look so much nicer than a rusty, old skip (while our skips are all painted a pretty pink, we won’t be offended if you’d prefer not to have a skip bin right in front of your property), and FlexiBags fit into more discreet places. If you’re a business with an image to maintain while you remove your rubbish, or you’re playing with the no. 8 wire, doing some renovations around your home, and you don’t want to be staring at a skip for weeks on end, FlexiBags are perfect!
One of the best things about Pink Bags, from a more practical point of view, is that you can put a mixed load of rubbish in. So, don’t worry about sorting any of your waste – we can do that for you! You can put in a mix of:
- Construction waste such as GIB, insulation, flooring and timber,
- Demolition waste, even hard fill and clean fill, so long as it’s not filled more than an 8th of the way up the bag,
- Garden waste, including leaves, grass cuttings, and small branches,
- Appliances, even fridges and freezers, so long as they’ve been degassed,
- Commercial waste – we’re talking packaging materials, manufacturing waste and office rubbish,
- Household waste.
We like to keep our drivers happy! So, please keep in mind that our 1m3 bags have a 500kg weight limit, and our 3m3 bags are limited to 800kg. Make sure that your FlexiBag is filled no higher than the top of the bag, and it’s easily accessible for kerbside collection, with nothing above it, like trees or powerlines. Also, keep in mind that our trucks need at least 3m width and 4m height to gain access. If you’re not sure where the best place to put your Pink Bag for collection is, talk to one of our friendly team members ahead of time.
No, thanks!
Now, before you go throwing anything and everything into your FlexiBag, it’s important to note that there are some items that we don’t accept in our Pink Bags, such as:
- Hazardous waste
- Chemicals
- Asbestos
- Medical waste
- Gas bottles
- Car, or lithium batteries
- Food waste
- Paint
- Tyres
- Fluorescent tubes
At Pink Bins, we’re the bin hire and recycling specialists. We want to make sure that as much of your rubbish as possible is recycled. When we pick up your FlexiBag, most of your rubbish will be brought to our recycling plant in Manukau. There, our floor staff will sort through the waste, take out anything that can be recycled, and send it to start its new life!
Because this process is hands-on, and we care about the safety of our people, it’s important that nothing hazardous goes into your FlexiBags. If you have waste that isn’t suitable for your FlexiBag, let us know, and we can sort out a HaziBag for you, or recommend another option that would suit your needs.
While there are pros and cons to both skip bins and FlexiBags, skips can end up costing more, if you don’t use them to their full capacity, and skips can be a bit of an eyesore, or just plain impractical. So, let the DIYer/declutterer/gardener/business owner in you rejoice – Pink Bins are here to make your cleanup a breeze!
FlexiBags are the perfect solution if you’re looking to remove waste from your property, in your own time, without worrying about where to put a bin so that it won’t get in the way, or damage your drive or lawn. If you follow this guide to what you can, and can’t put in your Pink Bin, it’ll be smooth sailing from here on out. Just remember to say a big yes to construction, garden, and general waste, and say no, thank you to hazardous waste, and dangerous materials.
So, there you have it! Now you know what you can put in a FlexiBag, as well as what you can’t put in, what are you waiting for? Buy a Pink Bag today and start cleaning up your home, business, or job site ASAP.
