How To Empty A Portable Toilet - Pink Bins

Let’s face it, even the most hardcore tradie needs a break sometimes. But on a bustling construction site, that luxurious porcelain throne might be a distant dream. Enter the humble portaloo, a trusty soldier in the battle against nature’s call. But hold on, before you approach with trepidation, we at Pink Bins are here to shed light on the, ahem, not-so-dirty secret of how to empty a portable toilet.

Peace of Mind with Pink Bins

Here at Pink Bins, we don’t just drop off a box and call it a day. We’re all about making your life easier, and that includes keeping your crew comfortable. Our two portaloo options, the Standard SHVTBOX and the Standard Flushing SHVTBOX, are built with hygiene and functionality in mind. Both come delivered sparkling clean, thanks to a 150-degree steam blast with disinfectant and ATP Sanitation monitoring. We even throw in hospital-grade hand sanitiser and ensure the unit is Site Safe Credited, giving you complete peace of mind.

The SHVTBOX: Built for the Big Leagues

The Standard

The Standard SHVTBOX is the undisputed champion of construction sites. This bad boy boasts a spacious interior for a truly throne-worthy experience.

Let’s not forget the built-in urinal for the fellas, because let’s face it, dudes deserve a break too! For added convenience, the SHVTBOX comes equipped with a hover handle, a mirror (essential for that post-lunch check-up), and a handy shelf for your phone (because even on the job, gotta stay connected!).

The Standard Flushing

Our Standard Flushing option is the perfect all-rounder. This unit is suitable for a variety of sites, from bustling construction zones to family backyards undergoing a renovation. It features a foot-pumped flushing system (no awkward hand-cranking here!), a built-in urinal (again, for the convenience of the male contingent), and comes stocked with jumbo toilet paper. Plus, we handle the regular servicing, so you can focus on getting the job done.

Emptying the Tank: Not as Gross as You Think!

Now, let’s talk about the not-so-glamorous part: emptying the tank. This is a job best left to the professionals (like us at Pink Bins!) Here’s how to empty a portable toilet:

Location, Location, Location: First things first, make sure you’re at a licensed trade waste disposal point. These are often called Chemical Disposal Points (CDP). Check with your local council or waste management company for details.

Gear Up: Don some gloves, a mask, and some safety glasses (better safe than sorry!).

Suck It Out: Our portaloo tanks are emptied through a hatch using the powerful vacuum on one of our specialty ‘sucker trucks’.

Rinse and Repeat (Literally): Once emptied, give the tank a good rinse with a hose to remove any residue. We add a disinfectant and deodoriser solution for an extra layer of cleanliness and to keep it smelling fresh.

Pro Tip: Check out our previous blog on where to place your portable toilet for some handy tips on strategically placing your portaloo for maximum convenience and privacy.

Portaloo Power: Choosing the Right Option

Not all portaloo heroes are created equal! Here at Pink Bins, we understand that different sites have different needs. When choosing a portaloo, consider these factors (and these helpful tips):

Site Size and Usage: For a small crew on a short-term project, our Standard SHVTBOX might be just right. But for a large construction site with a long lifespan, the extra capacity and amenities of the Standard Flushing SHVTBOX could be a game-changer.

Note: our recommendation is to have 1 portaloo for every 10 staff on site (including subbies on job sites).

Location and Amenities: Think about access to water for refilling and cleaning. Will a hand-washing station be necessary? Our specialty trucks carry all the stock you need to complete your service, including water to wash or refill. Our portable toilets also come with hand sanitiser but if you want dedicated hand wash stations, that’ll be extra!

Budget: Our portaloo rentals are competitively priced, and we offer flexible options to suit your needs.

Pink Bins: Your Portaloo Partner in Crime

Let’s face it, no one enjoys thinking about portaloo duty. But at Pink Bins, we’re here to make it as painless as possible. From choosing the right unit to ensuring proper servicing, we’ve got you covered. So next time your project requires a trusty portaloo, give Pink Bins a call. We’ll take care of the dirty work, so you can focus on getting the job done!
